What is the cheapest barcode scanner, and magnetic stripe reader.?
By Sydney
I am starting up a little store, and I need to know what would be the cheapest barcode scanner I can get. I would also like a magnetic stripe reader to attach to my computer.

You can buy a “Cue Cat” scanner from eBay for about $10. It works but you have to move the scanner across the entire bardcode (as opposed to pulling a trigger and reading the whole code in one shot)
You can build magstripe readers or buy them for about $5 — writing magstrips is more expensive and complex if you build your own.
