My 24″ 2×24 watt Aquamedic T5 hood with dirty reflectors and old Aquarelle-tubes gives me about 6000 Lux measured beneath the aquarium full of water. This one apx 1600 Lux. So one forth of the light to 6 times the price. Sounds like a iRipoff.

doesn’t mean that the light is any less helpful to the plants.

It is fucking dim! even T5 much brighter than that shit!

R/D in Taiwan and assembly in China. Even Philip, Osram or Cree are manufacture in China now. If manufacture in the US, the price will be 3 times higher.

Lol, i like how u ‘know’ mh is superior over led in regards to sps growth rates.
as u know sps require the light intensity and correct kelvin. if the led is supplying these two things correctly, which it can, how can you claim mh to be better? The decision comes down to your tank shape, how much you can spend on initial purchase, if you can do the sums on the cost of new mh bulbs over 5-10 years time (led life span).
i’d like to try 2 standard fluorescent bulbs on my sps, that be fun.

I also know that metal halide will do a much better job than LED lights for Reef tanks.
Much better coral growth – especially SPS. LED does not promote SPS growth nearly as well as MH do. Not to mention, halide lighting gives much better tank coverage. Every try an LED light on a corner tank? Won’t spred light to the sides.
Decent light but I will pass. Thanks.

Per your user name I assume you should know 2 standard fluorescent bulbs will not be able to support the reef tank.

Lumen Aqua is design to replace the MH light. You will need at least 4~6 tubes total at least 160W~200W for similar result not to mention the fluorescent will decaying in the fist 2 months of usage and output will decrease up to 40% in 6 months and no way you will get constant color temperature you are looking for. You can compare the blue color from LED and fluorescent and you will know what’s the pure color is.

Unimpressive. Just buy 2 standard fluorescent bulbs. Save yourself hundreds of dollars.
