How do I put batteries in a 2 D Cell MagLite flashlight?

I try putting 2 Duracell batteries in it every which way..i dont know really the ‘right’ way on doing it. it came without directions on how to do it. PLEASE HELP its really fustrating me !

for lack of better terminology – insert each D cell, so that the ‘pointy end’ (positive end) orients toward the light bulb – and the ‘flat’ end (negative) is towards the spring in the bottom of the flashlight
