run hot water and dish soap down the drain and run the disposal at the same time.

If that doesn’t work try the same thing with bleach. bleach will kill just about any odor.

I take a few lemons and chop them in the blade and that takes the smell off and cleans the blade.

The bottom of the disposal should screw off by hand but that is hard to do the lemons should work.

3

Turn it on while running hot water. Cut up a lemon into eighths and throw that in.

4

Slice a lemon and run it through the garbage disposal with some ice and cool water. After that, clean the sink out with dish soap and run that through the the disposal with hot water. If it still smells, you may have to have your landlord come and look at it to make sure nothing is stuck in there!

Send cut up lemons down there and let them sit for an hour or so before grinding them up.

OR…

Murphy’s oil soap and hot water

pour some baking soda into the garbage disposal then pour a little vinagar and let it sit for like 15 minutes then run really hot water down the drain. if it is still a little stinky you can then pour some lemon jiuce down the drain. The baking soda and vinagar will clean it and the lemon juice will deodorize it. (you can do this to any drain in the house and it will keep them nice and fresh)
Hope you get your cleaned as having your house smell from a stinking sink is horrible, good luck

lemons… warning do not put your hand in when it’s on. I took three finger tips off that way

Ok…everything you guys say will CLEAN the disposal, but you also need to address how to keep the blades SHARP. So before you CLEAN, dump a buncha chicken bones in there and grind the fk out of them…then do the clean with the lemons.

9

You could try using baking soda. Pour a box down the drain and let it sit for a few hours. Then rinse with water. It should remove the smell.

If this doesn’t work…you could also try some white vinegar.

My plumber told me to run COLD water, turn on the disposal, put 2 fresh quartered lemons down and follow with 2 trays of ice cubes. Works like a charm. If you do just one lemon and one tray of cubes every couple of weeks in the future, it will keep the disposal fresh.

Never run hot water while using a garbage disposal.

Holly is right.
Never run hot water down your disposal. It will ruin the motor.
Read your manual that came with it .
Good luck
