Get a sticky trap they go get the bait it’s really sticky and they get stuck to it…they wont die they are just stuck….you can find them at the store that carries mouse traps places like target or orchard supply
Small bottle or box with a small opening.
Then stick some cardboard into it shaped as a funnel.
The mouse will enter for food but the funnel will close up behind it.
No escape but one happily fed mouse with no injuries.
Or you could buy a humane mouse catcher.
I think that you need not to make it at your own. Please go to the market you will easily find it and will be able to use it. There are many which don,t hurt the mouse. but trap him.
Hav-a-Heart makes several sizes of rodent traps, but it is beyond me why you are concerned about hurting a mouse. They reproduce so quickly that the world will not miss one. If you’re really into the green thing, get a cat at let nature take its course.

Ha ha ha. I must commend you for pursuing an inexpensive approach to acquire new house pets. See this for where to buy a “humane” mouse trap that does not kill or hurt the mouse – http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=blended&field-keywords=humane%20mouse%20trap&results-process=default&dispatch=search/ref=pd_sl_aw_tops-1_blended_13603157_1&results-process=default . But, since you say you want to MAKE one, here is how one person did it – http://www.smithsax.btinternet.co.uk/products.htm and here is a video of his mousetrap in action – http://www.smithsax.btinternet.co.uk/images/h-mousetrap.mov . People have no end to creativeness. Here is another person’s approach – http://glass.typepad.com/journal/2005/09/how_to_catch_a_.html . To get more ideas, click this – http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=making+a+humane+mouse+trap . People say mice make nice pets. Or, maybe you own a snake? Happy hunting!

You can buy them at Walmart…that after the catch you can take somewhere and let go..
Take a jar & add some cheese in it and fiqure out a lid trap.
